Principal's Message

The school’s facilities require rehabilitation and immediate support to meet the opportunities that 21st Century Classrooms and emerging technologies demand. If our students are to compete successfully in the global marketplace then it goes to reason that the school itself must be 21st Century ready. We must be conscious of the fact that the standards of assessment, curriculum, instruction, professional development, and the learning environment must be aligned to produce a support system that produces 21st Century outcomes, for today’s students. The school must be retrofitted with modern facilities that will give our students the opportunity to practice their craft and interact with the relevant technology and processes necessary for them to function in the global market place.
The administration is envisioning a school/classroom that promotes Creativity, Critical Thinking, Communication and Collaborative Skills. Our students, we believe must be innovative and problem solving oriented enough, at school, to prepare them for a more complex working environment and world.
Our teachers then will become facilitators of learning in its true sense and not be regarded or revered as the only expert in the classroom. Both teacher and student will be empowered and enabled to create productive classrooms mimicking the real world. This undoubtedly will help our students to develop and refine those life skills essential for the competitive edge they need in the global marketplace.
Our appeal is for all stakeholders in the Diaspora and on the Island to make a conscious effort to help Cornwall College to “regain and retain” lost pride and to help our students thrive in today’s world. We feel that to produce 21 st outcomes, we can only achieve this with your support and the use of 21st Century facilities and systems.
