A: The Foundation was formed with the intent to provide any assistance that it can to fulfill the Mission of Cornwall College. The vision of Cornwall College Foundation is: "To unite the global Cornwall College alumni community in a shared commitment to restoring and elevating the school's legacy of excellence in academics, sports, and personal development, ensuring its continued impact on future generations of 'Men of Might.'"
Q: Is the CC Foundation replacing the alumni chapters?
A: The Foundation will not be replacing the various Alumni Associations, it will work with all groups to further the mission of the Foundation: “To mobilize the global alumni community to provide resources, support, and strategic direction to restore Cornwall College’s legacy of academic excellence, sports achievement, and personal growth, ensuring the next generation of Men of Might thrive in an evolving world.”
Q: What is the difference between the Foundation and the School Board?
A: The School Board works at the direction of the Ministry of Education and is in charge of the overall management of the school; the Foundation seeks to partner with the Board and other key stakeholders in carrying out the school’s Mission of ‘transforming boys into men of might'.
Q: What are the fundraising goals of the Foundation?
A: Our initial fundraising goal is to raise $400,000 USD annually to support the future development and enhancement of all aspects of life at the school.
Q: Is the Foundation seeking to make Cornwall College a Trust school?
A: The current and primary Mission of the Foundation is not to pursue a transition to a Trust school; while the Foundation does not oppose the concept of transitioning to a Trust school, the Foundation is seeking to focus our resources on other immediate and holistic approaches to improving all aspects of life at the school.
Q: Will the Foundation be audited annually?
A: Yes, the Foundation will be audited annually pursuant to its By-laws. Our Audit Committee will also conduct ongoing assessments of our operations to ensure adequate accountability and transparency of our reporting processes.
Q: How will the Endowment Fund be invested?
A: Management will explore all investment options to protect and grow the Endowment Fund by working with reputable money
managers. We will entertain fund managers both in Jamaica and overseas. Our investment decisions will be primarily driven by opportunities to preserve our capital while also providing a reasonable investment return. We will also look at the feasibility of leveraging the Endowment Fund to obtain loans to undertake meaningful projects.
